For a brief period of time after learning of Tom Robinson's death, Aunt Alexandra actually let down her well-to-do guard and showed some love and care for her brother, Atticus. She expressed how she disliked to see him pour his whole heart and soul into a case, and then have it all ripped away by prison guards shooting his client. Is Alexandra a nice person on the inside, or was this a temporary moment of insanity on her part?

I don't think it's a temporary feeling. It takes a lot of thought to speak out how you feel. Throughout the whole book, I've always seen Alexandra going through her own phases and her own problems. The way she behaves tells you that she's trying hard to cover up her weakenss. Her rudeness and selfishness doesn't make her a mean person, no one is stuck that way. Things can change. I think that Alexandra is just starting to realize that giving can be an important virtue because she's already questioning Atticus'gratitude towards the cases.
I think that i have established my opinion on this subject once before... but i think that Aunt Alexandra is not a very nice person. Obviously...even if you arn't a nice person, you will still care for your brother if he is going through a very hard time. I mean, you would have to completely heartless not to care. So, to answer your question...No, my opinion of Aunt Alexandra as not changed. She is jerk, and i do not care for her.
I have been trying to tell you guys this. Aunt Alex is actually, deep down, a pretty nice women. I have said this on almost every post where someone says Aunt Alex is mean. She may not be the nicest person, but I think she is just trying to take care of Atticus and his family. She is rude to Scout, because she cares for her and wants her to be the best she can be when she grows up. I do not think this was a temorary moment of insanity. I think she really cares for her family and deep down is a caring person. Noone wants to see their family hurt, so she showed her love to Atticus. She has always had the love inside of her, but she just now had a time to show it.
I think that this scene shows what Alexandra is really like on the inside, kind hearted. I think that all along she actually supported Atticus' case.I think that the reason she acts mean and says she disapproves on Atticus stand up for Tom, is to keep up the family name.
If there is only one thing that Aunt Alexandra cares about, aside from little Francis, it would be family. (Somewhere in the book she gives this whole shpeel about the Finch family's role in society...) I believe this is just the beginning of her net outlook on life.
I feel that deep down inside Alexandra is a good kind women. I think sometimes she has this wall up and is afraid to let it down and show her true self. However when it comes to family I think she truly cares, which she shows when Tom Robinson dies.
I think Alexandra has uncontrollable emotions. She might possible have a split personality. I dont think she would realize it, but she could have a side of her pro-blacks and the other anti-blacks. Who knows though it was just a thought. What do you think?
