I think that Aunt Alexandria is too strict. She wants everything prefect. She wants the girls to be ladys and the boys to be gentlemen. She has a very strong policy about what people can and can not do. She does care for the children but does not want to be embrass by the children's mistakes. She also tries to put everything in a category and if it does not fit in the category, then she simply ingores it.
I see Aunt Alexandra as extremely contolling and power-hungry. I think that she feels she at least has to put her opinion in on every situation if she cant control it. It even says in the book that she always has something to say about every family no matter who they are which, again, tells us she has to at least feel as though she is better then others if not in control of them.
I think she is controlling too. I know I am controlling sometimes and how I don't like being disturbed or the house a complete mess because it sometimes bothers me, but Aunt Alexandra takes the controlling issue to a complete new level to where she thinks everyone should be like her. Not everyone needs to be a complete gentlemen or lady because then u might as well have arranged marriages and know everyone by their first names. Kind of like Utopia, but that would be better than Aunt Alexandra's world. Kind of. I kind of lost my train of thought and am sort of confusing myself. It happens
Aunt Alexandra needs to stop worring about Scout. I think that Scout will grow up just fine. She should just back off a little and let Atticus handle his own daughter. Why do you think that Aunt Alexandra cares so much? (besides the fact that she is a very controlling woman)
Aunt Alexandria is over protective, that's all. She might have feel that she grew up in a bad way, so she's trying to raise Scout in a different way so that she wouldn't go through the same thing she did. It's just a guess.
If you had been paying attention to the rest of the posts you'd have realized the same ?'s were published in Aunt Alexandra, Friend or Foe? which was posted prior to yours. March 8th to be exact.
Yes Han solo when I posted this I was aware of the posting on March 8, but I am asking after reading more into the story if your feelings of aunt alexandria have changed, no matter what everyone else thinks. So thankyou!
I think that Aunt Alexandria is one of those people who is very nit-picky and has to have everything her way. She sticks to very old-fashioned ways and lets her opinion be known in every situation. I know we think she is a power-hungry woman, but now let's think about this. Think about how it's the 1930's and woman are just known for cooking and cleaning, BUT NOT THIS WOMAN! I think that she, even though she is quite mean, is still a role model for woman back then to gain a backbone. The man may be the head of the family, but she is most certainly the neck and she will control or turn the head any way she likes.
I think that Aunt Alexandria has some good points for the children, butI have to go with how i think scout feels about her, and that is that she is just plain EVIL! She doesnt understand the consept of children, and is trying to take scouts young girl/childhood away!
