Crazy Mayella...

WOW...did Mayella bother anyone else in the movie?? This girl reminds me of her....

I couldn't even understand what she was saying because she was screaming and bawling hysterically..I know she is abused but she acts like a crazy person. As far as the difference from the movie and the book, I guess from the book I got that she was very quiet and kept to herself, and I expected that in the movie. But obviously this was not the case...she was just super annoying.

I agree! I thought she was very annoying and no offense to her, but she needs some acting skills! I didn't expect her to be so loud and act so hysterical either. I thought she would be very shy, quiet, and kept to herself, but I was severely wrong. That women could annoy the heck out of someone. I literally wanted to jump in the screen and punch her in the face! Goodness! She definitely has a mouth!

Mayella bothered me a lot in the movie. I expected her to be at least a little bit more intelligent! I don't know why but I did. I also kind of expected her to act more mature because she kind of is in charge of her house hold in a way. Since she takes care of all of her siblings.

Well, I never really have liked Mayella but I do think that the actress that played Mayella did a good job. I think that she portrayed Mayella very well. She did bothered me but it was kind of funny watching the movie to see someone act like that. She never shut up and just listened. She would always argue, even if Atticus just said one word.

Mayella did bother me but it the right way. I think that if she had a subtle accent and was calmer, it wouldn't portray the right type of person. Mayella was taught to have no manners and had no proper education. I don't think she would have an impact at all on anyone if she was this quiet, intelligent girl. I mean, if you remember, she tried to seduce a married black man who she thought was below her but she was still so desperate not to care. I think they portrayed her correctly in the movie

I agree as well! She really annoyed me in the movie! It was so hard for me to watch the movie and see her lie in the court room! I hated seeing her cry and try to cover up all her lies when i knew that eventhough she was lying about everything she said while she was on the stand, that the jury would still rule her as innocent! Thats what really made me mad! Because even when she was on the stand you could tell she was making up everything she said and she wasn't even believable! But she still was chosen as not guilty!

She was just simply annoying in the movie. I started laughing because I couldn't even understand her shrieking. It was very disturbing. I thougt Mayella to be kind of mature and grown up, but after that scene I just think of her as plain annoying.

The way Mayella was portrayed in the movie was not the way I pictured her in the book. I thought she was more quiet and shy. Even though I thought Mayella was differnt, I still think the actress did a acting job. It might not have benn how I pictued it, but it still made sense.

i think that mayella's character in the movie was very well done. she acted just like the book said she would act, and she looked like the person i had imagined while i was reading the book. it all goes to show that you can't judge a book by its cover.

Her cheese has slide so far off the cracker it's at Pluto, our former 9th planet. She didn't have to scream so much, but because of this it made the movie more interesting. If she had not the movie would be even more boring.

I agree with what most people have said about the movie Mayella being annoying. I always pictured her to be a little more subdued and motherly, but that is not at all how she was portrayed.

I agree with the fact that Mayella was really annoying. Although, Emily Osment, I don't know why you pictured her to be shy, quiet, and kept to herself because in the book she was just as annoying and hysterical. I think this actress portrayed Mayella well and I agree with Carl. I really liked who they picked to be Mayella because she was ugly, whiny, she made everyone hate her and was an overall jerk.

As I said before, I think Mayella is quite annoying in the movie, and I feel as though she could be losing her mind a little bit, as if to be mentally unstable at this time. This very well could be from the guilt that she has or had from the Tom Robinson case. I think she should get some light mental therapy or do mental therapy excercises to help her to contain herself and to keep from going insane. A site with very good excercises and good information is

Mayella is crazy but can we really blame her, look at the life she has grown up with. Her father is crazy and abuses her and the rest of her family looks to her as a mother figure. I think as Atticus would say lets walk a mile in her shoes.
