Atticus???

How has Atticus raised his children? Do you think he is doing a good job? How long will it take for Scout and Jem to come around and find there place in the famiy?

I think that he does a very good job raising them, which I believe comes with age. And I think that both Scout and Jem already know their place in the family, Jem moreso than Scout. I think that Scout is still just trying to see the fine line between right and wrong.

I agree, I think Atticus is doing a very good job. He treats them as if they are more mature, not so much as little kids. Also, he is always very open to talking about things with them. In the long run, I think that benefits children more. I agree with Carl too. The children will understand their place more and more as they get older. But, as of right now, Jem understands more than Scout.

I think Atticus is doing the best he can. He understands how kids can act sometimes and he lets them learn from their mistakes. His relationship with them is more like a friend rather than a father. I think that with the upcoming trial they will come to understand Atticus better. With this I think they will become more like a family.

I think that Atticus has done an excellent job raising his children. He has done just enough to guide them to deciding what is wrong or right, but not enough. What I meant by "not enough" is that he gave them enough independence to make their own decisions. I think they both know their place in the family because of the way they respect their father and come to him if they ever need anything.

I think Atticus is doing a fine job raising his children considering the circumstances. He has had to raise them by himself without a women in the household, which would be very hard. I like how Atticus treats the children like they are older, and almost treats them like a friend more than children. However, he still does discipline his children. I agree with Andie and believe that Atticus gives the children some freedom to make decisions on their own, but he also taught them what is right. He has raised the chlidren to be children that do not judge people like other people do. For example, he has brought the children up believing that blacks are equal to whites and to treat them that way.

Atticus is a good parent. He does his best to earn their trust and he keeps himself accountable for them.

Atticus has done a very good job raising his children. He has set very good examples for his kids to follow. He has showed them that character is the most important thing. Atticus is a man of great character. Jem knows his place in the family more than Scout though....

91I think that Atticus is a really good parent and that he is doing an excellent job. He is really good about being firm with his children with out being too pushy. I think that he has established a very open and solid relationship with his kids and you can tell that they respect him. The more open they feel with him, the less likely they are to rebel in the future. BRAVO Atticus!!

I think Atticus is doing a very fine job raising his children. Like many have said already, they have a very solid and stable relationship, and they know how to respect their parent. They also know the difference between right and wrong, and they do very well with that! I think that Atticus should just keep on doing what he is doing because his kids are turning out just fine! They are great actually. I mean I would want to be friends with them! I could teach scout to cheer and we could have a great time. Anyways to get back on topic, Atticus you are an awesome father. Keep it up Atti!

Atticus is a great father. He lets his kids mess up and learn from their mistakes. He stays far enough away as to let them expeirence life, but stays close enough to protect them when trouble comes their way.

I agree with everybody, Atticus is a great dad. He does whats best for his children and they have grown up in a well provided for home. Atticus is not very strict though, just giving threats and never actually goes through with it and lets them get away with alot. I think Calpurnia has also impacted Scout and Jems life, she has been with their family forever and is sort of like a mother figure to them.
