Would Dill still feel the same way about Scout?

Do you recall the post prior to this one, which was written by Jesus Christ about whether or not Scout would be different if she had a mother? Also, do you recall the post way prior to this one about the relationship between Scout and Dill, written by Miley Cyrus? I was really thinking about it, and I was wondering if Dill would still feel the same way about Scout if her mother did not die? I believe that if Scout had a mother, that she would definately be significantly different because she would most likely be more feminine. If Dill really likes Scout now, even to the point that he thinks they should have a baby, do you still think he would feel the same about her if she was different and more girly. Apparently he likes the tom boyish kind of girl that she is, so do you think his feelings would change about Scout, and do you think it is possible that the book would have changed a little bit if Scout and Dill were not in love like they believe they are? I truely believe that the book would have changed because there wouldn't be that compassion and sense of love(even though they are too young to know what love really is), if they did not feel for eachother like they do now? What do you think?

Good conclusions Miss. Emily. And I think you are right about Dill and Scout. Dill obviously fell in “love” with the Scout she is, tomboy and all. If she was a girly girl then they wouldn’t have had the immediate similarities that they had and he probably wouldn’t have fallen for her. I think that is what Dill liked about Scout. The fact that she was different than all the other girls and she was her own person. It is weird to think of the book without their relationship because it does give the book the love and compassion side that also makes the reader want to keep on reading to find out the destiny of their relationship. So I do think that the book would change and maybe not be as interesting or appealing to all readers if their so called “love” relationship didn’t exist.

I think that if Scout had grown up with a mother that things would definatly be different between her and Dill. If she had had a mother i dont think she would have tolerated with such behavior that Scout has been doing. I think she would think about the outcomes before she just punches some kid or talks back to an adult like she has in the book. DIll likes Scout because he can relate to her and is like a friend except a girl so he thinks that she is perfect for him since they are so similiar. If Scout was more polite and ladylike DIll wouldnt be able to relate to her as much and their relationship would be totally different.

Hmm...well I still believe that things would not be significantly different because I don't believe that Atticus would marry the type of woman that would make her child do things that she did not want to do, such as wearing dresses and "acting like a lady." This is one qustion that I don't think can be answered because we do not know what Scout's mother was like, therefore, we can not jump to conclusions about how girly Scout would be. I think she would still be the same person that she is now but with maybe a few more girlish tendancies. Dill might not like it or it might not bother him. Tricky question.....

I actually think that Scout would not have been that different if she had had a mother. Sure, it would have made a difference, but I think her tomboy-ness is a part of her personality. It would still have been there. Like I said in an earlier comment, my twelve-year-old sister isn't very girly, even though my mom on occasion makes her wear dresses and have her hair down instead of in a ponytail. I also think that having a brother, who was one of the few playmates she had, influenced her more than a mother might have.

I do agree with you, however, that this book would not be the same without their little romance. It adds a lot to the story, for example, their innocence when they are talking about how to get a baby...they honestly don't know. It makes it even sadder when they are watching the trial, because you know how young and innocent they are.

I honestly think the way we keep referring to the relationship of Dill and Scout as "Love" is extremely absurd. Dill has a little crush on Scout, and there is no reason to discuss marriage and compassion. They are little friends, as George Stephenopolous would say, Give me A Break!

Hey Han Solo! I understand what you are saying, but I stated in my post,in some way shape or form, that I was indeed aware that their love was not true love. It is in fact more like puppy love. As for the relationship, even though they are young, every relationship has to have compassion, no matter what kind of relationship it is (even if its between two birds), because the people or birds in the relationship show compassion when they express their feelings and care towards the other person or bird! (No matter what way they express their feelings, it still happens). This is what I meant by the post. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate your comment! Thankyou Han.

I do think that things would be way different. Every guy has a little different perspective of what they like in a girl. Dill "fell in love" with the fact that Scout was such a good friend and her tom boyish side that he could relate to.
