Scout is the Mic Rulah, the Old Schoola. You wanna trip? She'll bring it to ya.

When atticus was approached by the group of men in the jail, why do you think they didn't do anything to him. Was it because what they knew what Atticus was standing up for was right? Or was it because Scout talked to Mr. Cunnigham and made him realize what he was doing was wrong? You be the judge...

I think the men didnt do anything to Atticus because the children were there. I think they didnt want to scare or harm them so they just left. They all probably knew that waht Atticus was doing was right, like the post said and probably couldnt bring themselves to hurt him because they all knew Atticus wasnt a bad guy.

I definately think that Atticus was approached by those men for a bad reason. Attticus says," Mr. Cunningham would have hurt me a little, but you'll understand folks when you are a little older." So I really do think if Scout,Jem, and Dill hadn't of been there Atticus would have definately gotten hurt. They did not do anything to him because Scout made friendly conversation with Mr. Cunningham. I think that Mr.Cunningham realized that he would be hurting the father of children and that made him come to his senses. Atticus also says," So, it took an eight year old child to bring them to their senses, that shows that a gang of wild animals can be stopped simply because they are human." I think that this was an excellent way to prove that just by talking to someone and calming them down can make a better difference than fighting them.

I think you meant Scout, but remember, Atticus had done some legal work for the Cunningham's in the past and perhaps, when scout reminded him, he felt an obligation to be reasonable.

Jem and Scout both aided in the safe departure of the little band of troublemakers. SCOUT talked to Mr. Cunningham, and made him realize he was doing wrong. Not Jem master shake, or should I say master stink! Jem knew what was happening and stayed stubbornly, while Scout unwittingly blabbered on to Mr. Cunningham, making the men realize a confrontation in front of children would be wrong. Jem's presence also helped a tad, in that he was ready to put up a scrap.

I agree with andie sachs and Mrs. S too. I think that Scout and Jem did help make the situation a lot better, and helped Atticus get a safe departure, as Han Solo said. I also think that they are not the only reason why this situation went better than it could have went. I agree with Mrs. S, when Scout reminded Mr. Cunningham, I think it made him feel obligated to be reasonable(like Mrs. S said), because of the legal work that Atticus did for that family in the past!
