Good Ole Dill

I really like Dill's character and how he came and went from Maycomb every summer. However, I would have liked to hear from him a little more often. I enjoyed how Harper Lee used children (Jem, Scout, and Dill) in the book and the movie to tell the story, especially Scout in the book abviously. Although I really would have liked to see and haer more from Dill. There are a lot of situations that come to mind, but in particular I think of the scene when the three kids are trying to get a look at Boo Radley, and the whole time its just Jem and Scout talking to eachother. You all may not agree with me on this, but I think at that point Dill could have just said what Jem said or something just to be more involved. What do you think?

Ya I think your right! I definentally would have liked to see Dill more! He was always such a funny character and he made the story more interesting! It always seemed that whenever Scout and Jem got into trouble, it was always when Dill was with them! I would have enjoyed seeing alot more from him!

I did enjoy Dill as a character. I think it would have been nice to hear more from him simply because he was an imaginative little boy who was always up to something. However, the story wasn't really about him so I think, in most situations, hearing from Dill would have taken away from the story that is being told as Jem and Scout grow, not only as themeslves, but also in their relationship with each other and with Atticus. Don't get me wrong though, I definitly think that the story needed Dill to help lighten the mood.

I think Dill was included in the story just to be kind of a cohort to Jem and Scouts adventures. he also added some comic relief, i guess you could say. and he definitely added a sense of still being a child to Jem's somewhat mature personality.

I agree with the e of she. Dill was just a supporting character to add a little more interest in the story. If Dill was more of a central character then it would have taken away from the novel. Also, the book in written in a way that the narrator recalling memories. She would most likely remember what she or her brother said rather than Dill because Dill was only there for the summers so he didn't have such a big impact on Scout's life.

I agree, I think Dill should of been in the movie more. He was just standing around like an extra, but he was really one of the main characters. You are stupid Dill!

I agree with most that Dill was a very amusing character. And like most of you I would love to see Dill or hear about his whereabouts a little more. Especially in the end of the book, it would have been nice to know how he reacted to Scout's acquaintance with Boo Radley. The joy on his face would be great.

I wish that Dill would have been in the book more, but I can see how he was not. He would only come in the summer.
