Lost Details

I realized, as we were watching the movie, that there were lots of details left out of the film! For example, did Maudie's house ever burn down? And what happened to Dill's explanation of Jem's pants being lost playing poker? Also, for all we've been discussing it, they left out the childhood romantics of Dill and Scout! I know that the movie couldn't run six hours long, but I felt like they might have cut out too many details! What do you think?

I agree whole heartedly. Amen, sister suffragette!

I agree. They left out some details that made the book interesting. I think without the details the movie plot is dry and boring.

I agree...I think they need to make a new movie. I don't think I would have liked the movie at all if I hadn't read the book already. They should have put all that extra stuff in and just made it two movies. Or they could have made it a really long movie...Pirates 2 is 2 and a half hours long!

I think if they put in every detail the movie would be too long and no one would watch it. I mean come on who wants to watch a eight hour movie. I also think that even though they left out many of the details, it is still a good movie. The people who made the movie made sure they left in enough details, to where a person could follow the story.

I agree with the Dr. they left out some of the more unimportant details. These details add to the book but i think they would make the movie boring. They can only make the movie so long, and personally they did a very good job.

I do think that some important details of the book were not put in the movie. However, I do agree with Dr. Gonzo. If everything in the book was in the movie, then it would be way too long. It would definetly be hard for me to pay attention for the whole movie. Although I was waiting for Jem to explain how he lost his pants.

Dr. Gonzo I must agree that there are useless facts that they could leave out, but I thought that the lack of some details stole depth from the story!! As to length many Academy Award winning movies are four hours long!! Ex: Titanic and Ben-Hur!!
